Frayhua Reviews: Transformers: Convoy No Nazo

Transformers: Convoy No Nazo Review

Transformers: Convoy No Nazo is an exclusive Japanese game for the Famicom (Japanese NES). Is it a great Rom to play or is it a game that should be forgotten?

Presentation

Graphics: The graphics are terrible with generic boring backgrounds such as Stage 1 and 7 being the same stage with different colors, lame sprites, bad hit detection, and enemies that blend into the background as well the there shots.

Sound: The music is as generic as the game design.

Gameplay

Side-Scrolling Shooter- This side scrolling shooter is hampered with a lot of problems. Before I get to those problems I’ll talk about the controls. While in Robot mode you can shoot by pressing the B button and the A button is jump. Transforming is done by holding Down on the D- Pad for a few seconds. This puts you into vehicle mode. In vehicle mode you can shoot up by pressing the B button, while the A button shoot grenades.

Problems with this Shooter- This is a one hit kill game, but with no addition of checkpoints like in Contra. Meaning if you die anywhere in the level you start at the very beginning of that stage. Another problem is that enemies and their shots move too fast and they blend in to the background making it impossible to avoid. Even the first level is a hassle to the punishing difficulty. To continue in the broken game you have to hold A+B+Start. Not only are the stages and the music repetitive, so are the bosses because the stand still or move up and down shooting you. You fight some of them 2-3 times. Stage 9 is the worse level in gaming history because if you don’t know the pattern the level goes on infinitely. How is anyone suppose to beat this level on their first playthrough. You need to go online to find out how to beat it. That shows no care. Beating this game isn’t worth it.

Value: There is no enjoyment playing this game whatsoever.
